A) General objective

Strengthen the ownership and impact of the blue economy in the countries of the Gulf of Guinea in order to create wealth through the seas, oceans, and inland waters with the aim of ensuring the well-being of populations while sustainably preserving the environment.



B) Specific objectives

The conference will allow :

  • Adopt the Yaoundé Declaration on the Blue Economy
  • Encourage the adoption of a draft resolution on the blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea for approval by the AU and subsequent endorsement by the United Nations General Assembly
  • Propose a set of voluntary principles for a sustainable and resilient blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea
  • Advocate for the creation of a regional fund for the blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea
  • Create an international observatory on the blue economy in Central Africa
  • Promote best practices, the integration of scientific data, and partnerships among all actors in the blue economy value chain



C) Expected results

The conference will allow :

  • Adoption of the Yaoundé Declaration
  • Recommendation for the adoption of a United Nations General Assembly resolution on the blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea
  • Proposal for a set of voluntary principles for a sustainable and resilient blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea
  • Creation of a Regional Blue Economy Observatory
  • Advocacy for the creation of a fund to finance the blue economy in the Gulf of Guinea
